Lebogang Motshwane also known as ‘Lebstar’ , DJ and Sound Engineer at TJK Entertainment was born in 1990 on the 8th of July, Pretoria the capital city of South Africa, grew up in a township called Mabopane. Lebstar’s music career kicked start in 2007 when he started being a DJ while he was in matric. He got the influence from his cousin Lethabo Neonsoul Mbiza, who taught him how to dj with turntables, and was inspired by his dad’s friend DJ Bradley from Soweto. That’s when he started practising and learning more about the art of music without having gigs. As time passed he got used the game, gaining confidence and started playing at parties, school events, weddings and house music sessions.
Lebstar’s love and passion for music grew and decided to be a producer whereby he went to study Music Production at Soul Candi Institute of Music in 2009 at Johannesburg, where he learned about how to compose music. He didn’t complete his course due to some circumstances, but he carried on doing music on his own in his bedroom studio, learning the elements and art of music. He started exploiting his music and started meeting other good DJs and Producers. He started to be more interested in the game, that’s when he started sharing knowledge with producers by the likes of Trancemicsoul, Tizmo, Mindlo (Nativeroots), DJ Bullet and also shared decks with inspiring and best DJs like Christos, Vinny Da Vinci, Reelsoul, Kanunu, Malankane, Sisco, Miggs and Glen Lewis
Lebstar went to further his studies at Damelin College in 2011 studying Sound Engineering. He got recognised by an international Swedish producer called Tobias ‘Orange Muse’ Linden of Colourful Recordings with help from a friend by the name Sfiso Wishingsoul. He remixed Orange Muse’s track called Oyster, his 1st international remix to be released on a 12” vinyl. He also released his debut EP “Living for You” of which he featured an amazing vocalist from the US goes by the name of Jon Pierce and was also remixed by one of the best international producer William Reelsoul Rodriguez under Deepforest SA.
